About Load Chart Academy

Load Chart Laboratory started in 2017 to help crane operators at my company pass the NCCCO specialty exams.  It started with a few videos on YouTube to help them with load chart problems--the part of the test causing them the most problems.

Shortly after posting the videos on YouTube I was contacted by operators from all over the U.S. and some from other countries.  I have made load chart practice problems available to operators for the last 8 years.

In March of 2024 I started working on Load Chart Academy.   Available study materials include:

  • Immediate access to Load Chart Laboratory, Load Chart Practice Problems for the LAT, TLL, and TSS specialty exams. You won't have to wait to receive them in the mail.
  • A full test prep workshop for the NCCCO core exam which all operators must pass to earn their "CCO card."  This is a video based course covering all the domains (site, operations, technical knowledge, and load charts) and topics on the NCCCO core exam outline.  Material is presented in 14 chapters and includes a 1,308 page manual, over 27 hours of video tutorials, over 600 study questions for each chapter, and over 650 multiple choice practice exam questions.  Using the question bank students are able to complete multiple, randomly generated 90 question practice exams.

Advantages of Online Test Preparation

There are many excellent in-person workshops available.  In person workshops have several shortcomings:  you have to take off a week to attend, once the workshop is complete there is very little continued support, you can't review what the instructor said in class--if you missed something you can't go back and review what you missed, and they are exhausting.  It's hard for the learner to sit in a classroom for 8 hours a day.

Online workshops and study materials allow you to work on the material at your own pace (you can watch a 15 minute video or complete practice quizzes on your lunch break and do some more when your shift is completed).  With online you can also spread out your study time over several weeks.  Another advantage of online is that you you can repeatedly review the materials (if you missed something in a video you can go back and watch the video again).  Also (I hope this doesn't happen) if you fail an exam you can go back and review class materials for your next attempt.  If you have questions you can contact the me and I'll do my best to answer them. Finally the online workshops are less expensive than the in-person workshops presented by other companies. (tuition / fees are less expensive, no travel expenses, minimize lost productivity)
